I always hear SEO terms thrown around and, if I am completely honest, sometimes I forget what each thing means. This is due to there being so many and the fact that they are all so similar. One phrase that I have been hearing a lot recently is lead generation. While I knew what lead generation was from a marketing standpoint, I was kind of forgetting how it related to SEO. Therefore, I decided to research it and write this blog post about it.

What is Lead Generation in SEO

Lead generation in SEO is the process of optimizing your website to attract customers that can be converted to sales. It is important because it is literally the basis for your business’ site if you are selling a product or service. No visitors interested in your content or site equals no sales.

Tips for Optimizing for Lead Generation in SEO

As in any SEO venture, you must find your target audience and optimize URLs, keywords, metatags, and other technical elements. One thing that I think is extremely important, however, is making relevant content. Your content must match the user’s intent by answering their questions or being of interest to them in order for them to care. Another super important aspect is making sure your site is navigable. If your site is a pain to navigate or looks sketchy, your users are not going to stick around long enough to buy anything.

Importance of Lead Generation in a Nutshell

Ultimately, lead generation follows the same steps as general SEO since lead generation is a goal to be met through SE optimization. It is important because it is literally how you will get found on the SERP and gain customers or leads. While traditionally advertising or using social media to advertise your business is good, SEO lead generation can be another way for you to gain organic traffic. And, not every business is fully in on it yet, so there might be room in the market for you to get a leg up by taking advantage of the benefits SEO.     Having relevant content on your site to match with what your customers are looking for is crucial for driving traffic to your website. It is also important to make your website easy to navigate so that your customers who are searching on your site choose to stay on it rather than leave because it doesn’t make sense.
