Website game plan

Because I do not have any idea where to start, I will start by figuring out where to start. For my following blog posts, I hope to report on the following. First, I need to finish learning CSS and practice CSS and HTML. Second, I need to learn what best conveys the information I am planning to have on my website. Third, I need to make the information I plan to have on my website into definitive content. And lastly, I will need to learn how to use my website in a way that makes it marketable and also can be advertised on accounts of different social media websites.

For my idea, I am planning on building a website showing off some skirts I have sewn over the past two years and how I did so without a sewing machine or a pattern. Because I used neither, they are 100% the product of my creativity, and I would like them to either be a fun project for someone else to use or be used as inspiration for others. I also need to take photos of the skirts and either draw patterns or write down the dimensions used to make them.

I should also figure out which websites and social media apps I can best show off my product on. It would be very easy to make YouTube and TikTok content or use more common social media such as Instagram or X to show off photos.

In my other class I’m taking, called Web Development, I am actively being taught how to use CSS and HTML. I will probably try to learn ahead; however, until I have finished the first few projects in that class and feel more confident, I will probably not start making the website and instead will focus on building a copia of content and designs to implement.

I really like how intentional your planning process is here. Starting by identifying what you still need to learn—especially CSS and HTML—shows a lot of self‑awareness, and it makes sense to build that foundation before jumping fully into the site. Focusing on content and design ideas first seems smart, especially since it will make the actual website build much smoother once you feel confident with the technical side.
