The Function and Importance of SEO

The basic function and goal of SEO is to align your online site with Google’s algorithm so that it ranks and therefore appears at the top of Google’s search results. While other search engines exist, such as Bing, Yahoo, or Safari, Google dominates the search market overall. This reinforces the importance of understanding SEO and how it applies to the Google search ranking system.

Google looks for good search results that will satisfy user’s search intent. They do this by identifying which content follows their E-E-A-T policy: Does the website demonstrate experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness? Additionally, it must be able to load quickly, perform well, and have a good user interface that is easily navigable.

One of the most important SEO techniques is keyword research which identifies frequently searched words from real internet searches and analyzes the number of keywords included in your site’s content in order to ensure that the site is likely to answer the viewer’s question. Another technique is content creation. This involves the intentional act of creating content targeted towards meeting the needs and potential pain points of your consumers. This is achieved by understanding what their needs are and then executing an informed plan of how to solve those problems. Lastly, link building is also a critical SEO tactic. Successfully getting other sites to link to your website improves overall brand image, credibility, and trustworthiness. Additionally, this will increase traffic to your site thereby bringing in more viewers and causing it to rank higher in search results.

The importance of SEO cannot be understated. Often times organic search is the primary source of website traffic which emphasizes the cruciality of ranking high in Google search results. Ranking high on Google as a trusted resource is invaluable for brand loyalty. This brand credibility can be difficult to attain in modern society with the sharp rise in AI mass creating meaningless content. With Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines and the help of SEO keyword search and other techniques, however, it is likely that websites that do rise to the top of search results are credible, and beneficial in answering the user’s search questions.

I like how you stressed the importance of SEO and keyword selections as it can help increase the amount of traffic to your website and boost your relevancy. I did not know about Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines, but this can be a useful tool when optimizing your site and keeping your data up to date for your users. When Google crawls different sites it can really pick out different things that you may lack within your website and by having a team accountable for the website this can be significant when preparing your website for optimization.
