Search Volume
Nike is a great example of a company who has been successful with their search engine optimization efforts. Using SEMRush, I did some looking into their search volume and it is wild. Globally, they generate over 21.2 million searches. Keep in mind that’s global, over 2.7 million of those searches originate from the United States (the highest volume in a country). The volume of search and traffic that Nike generates shows just how well they use SEO.
Keyword Utilization
As we know, keywords are crucial for successful SEO, the understand the user, and deliver a solution and desired result to satisfy your target user and audience. Nike does an incredible job at utilizing their keywords and understanding the needs of their users and making their solution accessible to them. SEMRush generated an insane amount of keyword variations that people search connected to Nike, but one of the highest keywords was “Nike Shoes”. I myself looked up just “running shoes” and Nike popped up organically. This goes to show the level of understanding that Nike has for their user need and the utilization of Keywords they use too.
Offsite Optimization
I strongly believe that a primary reason Nike does super well is not just because of their ONSite optimization and well-structured web platforms, but also because of OFFSite optimization. I can’t tell you the number of times that I have been on another website that isn’t owned by Nike, and have seen Nike links that would direct users to their site. Nike does a great job of being recommended by other sites and they have many backlinks (inbound links) on other sites that link to Nike’s site. Nike is widely appreciated and recommended by the world of retail. In addition to the mass amount of backlinks Nike is connected with, they have an excellent presence on social media, which only helps them drive more and more traffic on their site. Nike promotes consistent and quality content that engages with and captures the attention of many users.
