I read this article called “5 Powerful SEO Strategies for Small Businesses in 2025” and I think it offered some really interesting tips that could be helpful to other student sites. The first point talks about creating data-driven content. Using good data from credible sources can help make content more trustworthy and appealing to readers and make it more likely to get noticed by people in your field of work. There’s then a good chance that those people will reference it on their own websites, helping to build authority within the industry and get your site in front of bigger audiences.
The second point talks about maintaining digital PR campaigns. Creating great content is awesome but it doesn’t mean anything if it’s not getting seen by people. Seeking out and asking journalists in the field to distribute your content is a simple but pretty effective way to get noticed by the right audience. Alongside this, it’s important to keep track of industry trends so campaigns actually correspond to what consumers want.
The third tip briefly discusses video content. In my own time on social media, it’s obvious to see how important both short- and long-form content are to staying relevant. Embedding videos (that consumers want to watch) increases visitor time on a site, thereby improving SEO. And just like Professor Sweet has emphasized, the more people linking to your videos, the better your site will be.
The fourth less-obvious tip is listing your business on professional classified sites. Because these sites are being actively searched for by your target audience, you can also increase domain authority and and your website’s backlink profile. With that, there will also be a lot more relevant traffic being driven to your site that can help boost rankings.
The last tip was all about website speed. I think this type of thing is easily overlooked because we expect websites to load quickly, but we really do click away so fast if a website hasn’t loaded within seconds. If your website load time is fast, you’re giving yourself a chance to let your content really be seen by users.
I really liked this article because I think it was so practical and addressed some topics that can genuinely help any business, whether small or big. Check the article out here.

This was a great post! SEO is super important for small businesses since they are going to compete with possibly larger companies with a big audience. The SEO strategies help consumers and users to find their site! I feel like your third point on video content is the aspect I do not always think about in regard to SEO. Videos are a great way to offer a mix of visuals along with the information. Plus, the video could be playing in the background while scrolling through the site.
Hi Audrey!
Great tips here! I like how many of them center around the idea of creating trustworthiness and authority. Even as a consumer myself, I know I like to know I can trust a brand/site and know that they’re actually authoritative/know what they’re talking about, so all these tips can be super helpful for businesses who want to gain traffic and customers 🙂
