Putting Search Engine Optimization is a lot easier said than done. You can know all about Metatags and keyword research and persona portfolios but actually figuring out what in the world you’re doing is another story. The one thing I’ve learned is that there is brilliance in the basics.
Keywords, Keywords, and more keywords. Sometimes, that’s all it starts with. Keywords are your backbone to Search Engine Optimization and a big part of what makes the train chug. Before you can throw around alt text and creating content and making new pages, you need to figure out what makes your site unique. Whether through intention behind the content, the type of content you show, or how many links you can stuff into your site without setting off any alarms, start basic.
Keyword research should start soon after. Your content should be personable and intentional but they should be focused on those key words and phrases your audience will be using. Regardless of what type of site you’re creating, content is king and words are key.
Now what does this have to do with a blog post? I’m trying to remind myself of this as we begin to work on a content challenge and fix a page on My GCC. It’s a daunting task at first, with so many pages and pictures and internal links and what not. What helped me get off on the right foot was breaking it down to the basics and figuring out what keywords are going to be essential to our content. All thats left is finding what we can leave out so we can focus our content on being narrow to our topic but broad enough to tell a story.

Hi, sounds like you’re well prepared for the task of writing content for a GCC page. Keywords are definitely super important for content. I agree that part of writing it is figuring out what can be cut, and keeping what’s necessary for optimizing the page.
