SEO Blog #8

After reading the article “Is Using AI to Write Blog Posts Bad for SEO?” I’ve come away with a clearer understanding of the current relationship between AI-generated content and search engine optimization. As someone studying SEO and digital marketing, this topic feels especially relevant given how common AI tools like ChatGPT have become.

The article makes the case that while AI offers speed and convenience, it does not replace the value of high-quality, human-written content—especially when it comes to achieving strong search rankings. One of the main concerns raised is that AI-generated writing often lacks a consistent brand voice, originality, or the depth required to meet Google’s E.E.A.T. criteria: Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, and Trust. Even if content sounds “good enough,” Google’s algorithms are increasingly capable of detecting formulaic or low-value writing.

However, this article does not completely discourage the use of AI. Instead, it points out that there are effective and appropriate ways to integrate AI into content strategies. For example, using AI to generate meta descriptions, write alt text for images, or draft simple social media posts can save time and improve efficiency—provided that the output is reviewed and edited for clarity and tone.

One takeaway that stood out to me was the importance of thoughtful editing and strategic prompting. AI tools can support the content creation process, but relying on them too heavily—without human oversight—can result in lower engagement and reduced visibility in search results.

Overall, the article highlights a balanced approach: using AI as a helpful tool, but not a replacement for well-crafted, human-centered content. As search engines continue to prioritize authenticity and user experience, it’s clear that the human element still plays a central role in successful SEO.

Great post! I agree that AI can help, but there is a time and place for it and human created content as well

I love the idea of thoughtful editing and review of AI written content to make it a partnership. Its the difference between a robot on an assembly line and a human using a high powered drill. There is still a human touch when a tool is used, and human effort is saved by using the tools. This balanced approach is the best way to utilize technology and move forward to be able to build more amazing things in the future
