One field that I am interested in beginning a career in is the real estate industry and what all needs to be done to better the SEO of the website itself. When thinking of a real estate website, most seem to be similar and differentiate only on color schemes or layout. Because of the similarities of these websites, having a good SEO will greatly benefit the company, whether local or national. When I looked up some national real estate websites like Realtor.com, they have a very professional and easy to use landing page where you can search locations and properties while also promoting their reliability like #1 in the nation at such and such. In contrast to that, I looked up one of the local realtors called Lighthouse Apartments which is very out of date and lacks credibility due to its messy format and random pictures.
When it comes to the onsite SEO that the real estate websites have and need, it is a necessity as the users and the online spider need to be able to crawl the website and utilize it well. For the first website, Realtor.com, they have a user-friendly website that incorporates both the location of apartments and also the type that they are from a search bar on the landing page. This makes it easy to navigate and usable for most people that would get on the website. For Lighthouse Apartments, their website is very clunky and gives the user a hard time to use which decreases their onsite SEO. You can take away from it that they should use a cleaner format and less outdated pictures and search bar.
As for the offsite SEO, it is essential that other sources link back to their site like Realtor.com and Lighthouse Apartments. It may be hard to find some sources that link back to your site, but as for the major real estate ones, by searching for a property to buy a close related source may use your website as the connecting link instead of another. You should try and optimize your credibility and linkage by creating a trustworthy and usable landing page that other companies and websites would like to link back to. In this case, Realtor.com should have many links because of its popular nature and total properties but Lighthouse Apartments is too plain and poor of a site to grab many links.
Real Estate sites should then focus on their landing page and site altogether in order to increase their credibility and links that outside resources will create back to them.
