My family owns a business in town. It is called Battery Warehouse Plus. We sell a variety of batteries from watch batteries to car batteries to AA and everything in between. My dad has owned this business since I was little. We currently have a website, but it is not great. In the fall, during Content Marketing, I created a new site that was more user friendly.
During one of our class lectures, Professor Sweet introduced websites we can use to provide a helpful analysis on our site. I decided to put the current Battery Warehouse Plus website into it and find out how it ranked. I used HubSpot’s Website Grader.
The site ranked at a 79 and according to HubSpot, “This site is good.” For the SEO category, it ranked 30/30. So, while it is not the prettiest site, it provides permission to index, meta description, and content plugins that pass the HubSpot test. However, there is room for improvement.
In the performance category, the Battery Warehouse Plus site ranked as 14/30. The page size was fast and light, so that was okay. There is also browser caching and minimal page redirects, and both of those are beneficial. On the other hand, there is room for improvement for page requests and page speed. These improvements would help users to stay engaged and not want to leave the site. Additionally, the image size, minified JavaScript, and minified CSS all fall into the fail category. If these are improved, then the site will run smoother and quicker.
Additionally, for the mobile category, the Battery Warehouse Plus site received a score of 30/30. The font size is legible, it has tap targeted, and it is responsive. I aim to carry these traits over to the site I am working on.
Overall, the current site is good and usable. However, I am looking forward to continue improvements on it through the site I will be creating through Word Press. I will be able to make the site look appealing and be optimized for SEO.

Really through breakdown of you family’s business website it would appear using good practices even if not targeted at an SEO out come will lead to a better overall site score. It sounds like the site is not a word press site now I’m wondering how that might change things in layout for better or worse in optimization.
