SEO & Digital Marketing

Search Engine Optimization and digital marketing are two different things; however, they share some of the same properties. SEO works to boost engagement and awareness about a brand or organization and digital marketing does the exact same thing. They both share the same platform being the internet and working in the digital space to promote a company. From reading “The Effectiveness of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in Marketing: A Meta-Analysis Study” by Paul Usmany, I found that Search Engine Optimization actually supports digital marketing.

SEO helps boost digital marketing by making a company’s website more prominent and easier to find in the digital space. Essentially SEO is a branch of digital marketing and is a way that a company can increase their brand awareness. SEO allows companies to get to the top of the list when certain keywords are searched which would increase people’s knowledge about the company’s site. Search engine optimization is a great strategy for businesses to improve their marketing and get their name into more people’s minds.

Additionally, SEO is a rapidly growing industry that is changing and providing more opportunities for companies to get their name out there and reach audiences that they may not have been able to access previously. This all feeds into digital marketing, which makes SEO a crucial piece of a business’ marketing strategy. I think SEO is a great thing to learn for businesses and also people in marketing like me because it will help us understand how to utilize these tools for our advantage and to create better marketing and content.

I thought this article was very helpful in understanding the difference between SEO and digital marketing and it opened my eyes to how truly similar they are, while also having some differences.
