For my blog this week I looked at an article that was talking about new 2026 Search Engine Optimization trends. First is SEO even relevant? The answer to this is yes. It just looks different than it has before in the past. A lot of people get confused on what seo is or how to do seo therefore they believe it is no longer relevant that answer couldn’t be more wrong. The fundamentals still matter such as keyword search. It is about understanding search intent and demand. Simply what people are actually searching. People are worried that AI tools like the googles AI mode and perplexity will change things, but they are not changing the fundamentals of SEO. There is now a rise of branded search tactics. Now we need to find ways to grow branded searches that include our own target words. One of his suggestions is to use clickbate I think this is very interesting because we just said in class that we shouldn’t do this. Which I have to agree I don’t think this is a great thing to do or abuse. He also says there’s going to be a rise of youtube on google SEO, this I can see coming in a way but I honestly believe tiktok is more used than youtube for the younger generations. So if you are targeting an older generation then maybe you do want to use youtube and SEO. I do believe the target has a lot to do with this and even the way that younger people versus older people search we type very different things to get the results we want which needs to be taken into consideration when doing SEO. For my website I will be targeting middle-aged people so this is a good reminder to have and to think about the way they search.
