Search quality rating

After reading some of the documents for the midterm I came across the Google search quality rater manual after it being recommended on one of the pages. I decided to read it and I’ve found it very interesting. I think it will help my SEO here are a few insights I found from these guidelines:

1. The first section I found interesting was the section on ads Google notes that while Most websites have many ads the quantity of ads does not directly reflect the website’s quality rating though lower quality ads as deemed by Google have a negative impact on a website’s quality rating.  Also, noteworthy that affiliate links are considered ads.

2. Another interesting topic was YMYL topics or your money or your life topics the quality of these topics is considered by Google to be more important in ranking a web page than the actual page content usually is since if handled improperly this kind of content could result in harm to the individual using the search. Google wants to make sure that this class of content is accurate and relevant to users.

3. The most interesting topic, however, I found in the early section was the basic guidelines for quality of main content which are considered to be effort, originality, talent, and accuracy. Effort describes the amount of human directed effort into creating quality content. Originality is the measure of whether the quality can be found in substantially the same form on other websites IE does this website provide a valuable relevant source of content? Talent refers to the amount of skill used in the creation of the web page to make it usable for users. And accuracy obviously refers to the accuracy of the information portrayed by the website. Accuracy being most important for your money or your life topics.

I really want to dig into the search quality rating documents more as I think they will help me create better websites in my own work.
