Anna Busalacchi

Anna Busalacchi came and spoke to us in SEO about her work with Corkboard Concepts. Anna works for Corkboard Concepts, and they are a SEO company. They work to optimize client’s websites and curate media that appeals to the user and the SE. This content that is created needs to be of quality and not spammy to try to fit the SE’s requirements. The user must always come first.

Keyword Research

Anna uses Semrush to help do SE research. She showed us the Keyword Magic Tool and also Google Keyword Planner. I found it really interesting how the Semrush tool highlights the search volume and difficulty. This helped to open the door for using this tool on the GCC Content Challenge. We were able to search for and understand what people were searching when looking for colleges and Grove City College specifically.

Anna also noted that this research can take a long time. As one of our previous assignments, we used a spreadsheet to track and discover terms related to search. This helps to see what the search engines are looking for, and more importantly, what people are searching for. This helps us to dive deeper and look for pain.

AI

Additionally, Anna discussed AI with optimization. Using AI is especially extremely helpful for FAQs (Frequently Ask Questions). This is particularly impactful when looking at a broader topic and not just a couple of words.

Backlinking

Lastly, Anna talked about backlinking. She explained backlink audits. This is when you look at the websites that link to you and you evaluate the sites in relation to their ranking and if they should be included on your site. You are able to reach out to get backlinks removed from low ranking sites. For example, if their are sites that do not relate to your content or do not add to it, then you can ask for them to remove the link.
