If I were to ask how many of you ever click to look at the second page of Google, I’d imagine it would be a very low number of responses. The same can be said for the wider internet. From some research online, only a very small percentage of internet searchers ever go past the first page on Google. (I’m talking like 1%)
Many people will try to rephrase their search to get better results, in fact I did that while researching this post. My first query of “less than 1% of searchers go past page 1” did not yield particularly helpful results, while my updated query of “less than 1% of people go past page 1” had much better results that didn’t require me to leave page one. (Keywords!!!)
In addition to rarely leaving page one, it is also reported that the first result on Google gets ~28.75% of all web traffic. The big picture I am trying to show here is how incredibly important it is for you to get your website/business as high as possible on Google. If your site is on anything other than page one, and even too low in page one, chances are you will not get as much web traffic or in-person traffic as you hope for…

How do you feel about the AI feature at the top of googles SERP? Do you think it takes away or adds value to the customer experience?
There is definitely a use for it on some searches, (i.e. short information that doesn’t require a ton of research) but I’d greatly appreciate if it had a toggle in the Google settings to disable it.
I find it helpful for programming documentation and other tech things as it gets straight to the point without requiring you to read an inordinate amount of text.
Nice stats! I like how you brought them up in your post. Also, ironic that you didn’t go past page one haha!
