INTRODUCTION:
Since we have gotten access to the Yoast SEO analysis Yoast Website tools I decided that it may be a good idea to analyze my prior content with Yoast. Since I really want see how I could write more optimiziable content/SEO friendly content.
WHAT WAS WRONG AND RIGHT:
In my first posts on the SEO blog, Yoast scored me very poorly. Some reasons were a lack of images in my posts and a general improper usage of the key phrase. For this post as you will see I added an image with proper alt text. I also tried to more closely integrate the key phrase into my posts. Also, my prior posts lacked headings which are important to Yoast’s readability score. Yoast also identified areas that were not as relevant to the post for example outbound links which would not be useful or desirable for this project. I also struggled with having too many long passive voice sentences which slowed down the flow of my posts. I had good scores in sentence diversity and reached the proper lengths for my various posts. However, I realize good writing and SEO readable writing are not the same.
IMPROVEMENTS:
In this post, I tried to implement many of Yoast’s suggestions. First, I attached an image and gave it a appropriate description and alt text. I also wrote an interesting and relevant meta tag. Further, I also added the item to several appropriate categories on our page. The Yoast SEO analysis tools really helped improve this post. I feel that following Yoast’s guidelines has made the post more readable and useful to my audience. A small note some of the Yoast features seemed not to be able to read the post correctly and missed fixes I had added. In conclusion, Yoast has helpled me write a post I am far more proud of and that will hopefully rank in search better.
