They are vital because they ensure that your site and SEO efforts are being directed to and focused on the right channels and audiences, therefore, resulting in better search visibility and more relevant traffic.

The first question to ask when considering target market research is this: Who are the target users? These users are rarely a homogeneous group and can often be segmented. Begin by brainstorming a quick list of prospective users and dividing them into main groups and subgroups as a rough and preliminary persona. Regarding search identities, it is important to consider a range of persona types. These could include consumers of content, buyers of products or services, social able types or sharers of content, explorers of content, business stakeholders, industry experts, key influencers, or webmasters.

When considering search engine optimization, you must begin with the end user in mind. It’s not about you as the company or organization; it’s about them as a viewer or consumer. The goal of creating search personas is to understand the particular, narrow, and niche target market that would likely connect with your site. One main purpose of search identities is to discover the pains and gains for each persona type. The pain consists of the consumer’s needs, fears, frustrations, gaps, challenges, obstacles, or threats, while the gain consists of their hopes, goals, wants, opportunities, profits, acquisitions, and success factors. The pain and gain of customers influence decision-making. If you are able to answer and satisfy the needs or searches of your consumers, you will be more likely able to accurately predict their buying patterns and cycles, determine and understand their core motivations, and be better able to choose effective keywords for SEO.

The whole point of SEO is to get ranked higher on key words where your target audience will see your posts. If these people are not taken into consideration when making content then you are missing key information.
