In class today, we learned about backlinks. We talked about how you have to work to get credible ones and that you should not pay for linking. But…what are some practical things we can do to secure backlinks? (Information presented here was acquired from How to Get Backlinks in 2026: 10 Tactics That Actually Work).
“1. Find Unlinked Brand Mentions & Turn Them into Backlinks”
This point basically said to find sites that speak well about your product but have not added a link yet, and reach out to ask if they will! (Pretty simple).
“2. Fix Broken Backlinks to Your Site”
If your site is linked somewhere but is outdated, you should get it fixed. This is one of the reasons that you can never consider yourself to be fully “done” with your site/SEO. Having good SEO requires consistent maintenance and care-just think of SEO like a baby…kinda.
“3. Inherit Your Competitors’ Broken Backlinks”
If your competitors have backlinks that are broken, you can provide an easy solution to the sites linking them…your replacement! Not sure how ethical this one is, but hey, if your competitor isn’t keeping up with their SEO…
“4. Leverage Your Existing Partnerships to Get Backlinks”
Develop your pre-existing relationships by asking organizations and influencers to add links to your site!
“5. Get Featured on Resource Pages”
Resource Pages are basically a list of helpful links in your/your potential searchers’ niche. Getting put onto one of these by having authoritative content on your site would be great for your site traffic.
These are just 5 of the 10 suggestions on the SEMrush post I found. The other 5 are definitely worth checking out if you want more information about how to earn and maintain links.
