In the article 9 Real-Life Sales Strategy Examples that Work, Peter Strohkorb brings up several creative ideas for the realm of sales. First of all, he highlights the importance of having a guided and specific sales strategy with several reasons that align with the content of our class. It allows the buyer to be the focus of the sales process, rather than simply pushing products in an unappealing way. Additionally, it is hugely beneficial for the seller as it provides clarity, increases selling rates, and builds strong relationships with customers. Some of the core components of a strong sales strategy includes a deep understanding of customers and their problems, a well-thought-out value proposition, meaningful interaction with customers, a customer-focused buying experience, and incentives for referrals.

The following are sales strategies that can be implemented to increase customer experience and satisfaction:

  • Personalized marketing: Using AI tools to gather customer data and target the correct niche market with customized messaging.
  • Freemium model: Giving customers the opportunity to experience the product or service before paying for it. For example, many streaming platforms offer a free trial to help customers see if the platform is a good fit for their needs.
  • Social proof selling: Highlighting customer reviews, testimonials, and stories to build trust and prove the worth of products.
  • Structured referral selling: Offering incentives to customers for referring their personal audience of family and friends to the business. This is an effective way to build your customer base and build trust.

Of all the strategies suggested in the article, social proof selling stood out to me because it is a genuine way to market a product or service to potential customers. Throughout several marketing internships and my own small business, highlighting customer reviews on social media and other platforms has been very effective for reaching new customers and building trust.
