Being a salesImage result for target segmentperson requires you to become familiar with all different kinds of people. If you are selling a wide variety of products and services, your job may include you acting like a chameleon in order to understand your audience. When selling your product, it is essential that you know your buyer and connect with them. When you sell, you are essentially asking your client to part with an important resource for you. In order for this to be accomplished, there has to be a foundation of trust. My recommendation is to get to know your client very well before sales even comes up. Do your research. If you are trying to sell a middle school fashion trend, spend sometime with middle schoolers and gauge what it is they actually need, read up on their generation, identify what is important to them, and also keep in mind that while you are pitching to an audience, each member of that audience is an individual.
This is where marketing is an essential part of business. Discovering opportunities in different target segments can create more sales than you can imagine. A successful Salesperson doesn’t manipulate or force someone to buy something that they don’t want, it’s about bridging a gap between a need and a resource.

  1. Spoken like a true entrepreneur! I totally agree with you Emily. It is so important to know your target customer as well as other people that would be effected and maybe the channels you need to cement in for a smooth sales process.

  2. This is exactly right. Great comments, as you said it is extremely important to connect with your target audience. If a customer feels that connection, there is a better chance a sale will happen and each party will leave on good terms.

  3. “Discovering opportunities in different target segments can create more sales than you can imagine”. This is a great way to put it, it’s so necessary to always be on the lookout for other “unnoticed” opportunities.
