My 2001 Acura, also know as Silver Fox, was my pride and joy for a few years after my grandfather gave it to me. It went with me on my drivers test, my first day of work, and every time I went to see my friends. I loved that car and it never failed on me. Until one day, my beautiful, sleek car started making terrible screeching noises every time I turned the wheels.

I slowly drove my Silver Fox to the mechanic and that’s when I got the news. My car did not pass inspection. It cost more to repair the car than what it was actually worth, so I knew it was time to say goodbye to this car that has been in my life for years. I decided to put my car for sale online. I got a couple messages to buy the car that seemed less than normal. After trying that for awhile, I knew I had to go a different route. I needed to find a normal person with car experience that thought he or she could fix anything.

Soon, I found someone just like that. He was in my area and used to work on cars for a living. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to get my car, that was starting to wither away, out of my driveway. Then out of nowhere, the man decided to drop out of the deal. By this point, I just wanted to sell this car even if I didn’t get much money for it.

Finally, I decided to sell it to one of those car lots that fix some cars and scrap the others. I got very little money for the car, but it was the right choice for me. In this experience, I realized that with selling things, you don’t always get what you expect. Even though this selling experience was not the most successful, it taught me an important lesson. The process of selling is unpredictable, but necessary.

  1. This was a great lesson for you to learn early on! You never know what is going to happen in the buying/selling process, no matter how prepared you think you are. Sorry you had to give up your car – I know how difficult it is to give up one with so many memories!

  2. Unfortunately things don’t always go as planned. I have helped my grandfather do some selling and negotiation is a huge part of sales. Learning this lesson early on will help in the future and it will be very important as you go on and try to sell other things.
