In every line of work, from teachers to scientists to business owners, everyone has to sell themselves every day. From the first job interview process to their everyday work lives. Most businesses in the corporate ladder have to sell themselves to the higherups to keep their doors open by proving their worthiness. Each employee has to sell themselves to their boss by pulling their weight and fulfilling their tasks to avoid termination. This applies to virtually every employed person, even if their job itself has nothing to do with sales. The very basics of sales are ingrained into everyone, as everyone at least once in their life will have to sell themselves, a product or a belief to another person.

  1. This is a great reminder, Alec. It’s important to understand how to communicate with others effectively, and that’s what selling is all about. I love talking to my friends who don’t necessarily love people interaction as much as myself about this and hearing what about it causes frustration, worry, fear, annoyance, or a variety other emotions. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Right on. I often think of the different kinds of selling I do everyday and I wonder how I could be doing it better. Learning more about sales and just the art of selling in general has caused me to practice branching out in selling myself and my ideas or beliefs in every day life. I think this is a good perspective to have on life and communication.
