Account based sales is typically used by businesses with very large enterprise accounts that have multiple points of contact to reach customers. Opposed to traditional sales, account-based sales stays within the company completely. An example of this is PepsiCo. It would be virtually impossible for businesses or individuals to try and buy soda from a PepsiCo warehouse. To combat this, PepsiCo used account-based sales which will target large retail stores like Walmart, Target, or grocery stores. The businesses will open an account with the supplier and then allow for a consistent and reliable sales between the two.
