This past break I had to buy a new car to replace my old car. I had a lot of different experiences with car dealerships. I started my search online to find out what kind of car that I wanted. I started my search on private listing websites like craigslist and facebook marketplace. This experience. did not go very well. The vendors took forever to get back to me, if they got back to me at all. No one was willing to give me a straight answer, and they expected immediate action by me. This was difficult because I was still searching and unsure about what I really wanted.

My experiences with dealerships were much more easygoing. They responded quickly to my emails and were able to provide detailed information about the cars in questions. I was able to test drives cars that I liked without being pressured into an immediate buy. This experience made me much more comfortable buying from a dealership. The salesmen were knowledgeable about their products and understood what I wanted.

Eventually, I found a car that I really liked in my price range. I went to the dealership the same day and test drove with very nice man who helped answer all the questions I had. He didn’t pressure me into buying that day and made sure that I had a good experience. I was able to come back the next day to buy the car and the sales and finance people were very helpful with everything. It really showed me the importance of experiences within a sales environment. The professionalism showed by the dealerships assisted in the process and helped to make me more comfortable about my big purchase.

  1. Having a good buying experience makes all the difference! Also, knowledge and easy-going are two vital things that salesmen should definitely have as well! The key is often to reveal your knowledge at the perfect time to make the customer feel most comfortable. Nice work! So pumped you got the perfect car!!

  2. My family usually buys (and sells) cars on craigslist, so I can understand some of the struggle. As a seller on craigslist, more experienced craigslist buyers are constantly trying to haggle your price down and often throw other wrenches into the mix. I see how it is dissapointing.

  3. A positive relationship between yourself and the salesperson makes all the difference when buying a car. When the salesperson clearly knows their stuff and provides relevant information without being pushy it really helps to build confidence in the situation.

  4. I love how you found your personal way of buying. Many people would rather buy from an independent person instead of a dealership because they trust the one on one with know big corporation scene better than buying for people that are trying to make commission. I am glad that the sales person at the dealership was easy going and didn’t pressure you, I bet it made you feel so much better about buying the car!
