Cold calling is viewed as awkward, frustrating and full of rejection. While this can be the case at times there is much more to it. To be successful in cold calling it is about having the right mindset. You have to see cold calling as an opportunity to engage with new people. It is not about making a sale, but it is about helping those you are connecting with. When you focus on relationships rather than selling a product opportunities begin to open up. The key start before entering a cold call is being prepared. This is done through researching who you are calling and having a flexible pitch for the call. Personalizing what you are selling to the prospect helps allows for them to listen more to what you are saying.
The next key part to embracing the art of cold calling is how you deal with rejection. Use rejection as a way to improve at what you are doing. Analyze what you could have done better and tweak it for the next call. Every no brings you closer to a yes. So instead of getting discouraged push on to the next call and be optimistic. Cold calling is a great way to increase sales and connect with new people and build relationships.
I’ve had the opportunity to do some cold calling at work. It definitely takes a while to get used to. Great post!
