Over the summer I started to work for Instacart from time to time just to make some extra cash at night or on weekends. I did not anticipate the amount of work that this would entail and how detailed and accurate each shopping trip had to be in order to satisfy the customer. This can be connected to sales in the way that every order completed accurately and on time dictates your rating and the availability of future orders.

The parts that are up to the shopper’s discretion come into play when certain items are out of stock. Figuring out whether to refund the customer or choose a similar replacement will result in a good or bad rating. Open communication with the customer on these topics is also crucial in performing well, which is something that we have talked about in our class.

Even though delivery drivers for Instacart, DoorDash, and the like, may just be small gigs to make some extra cash, they can help your performance in other areas and teach things that are crucial for success in future jobs.
