As I write my blog post and was considering what topics to talk about I decided a reflection slash review of some of the wonderful classes I have taken at grove city college would be great. To start off is the first entrepreneur class and the entrepreneurship major takes Entrepreneurial Mind. As A senior in high school, I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to be so during dual enrollment in my senior fall semester I took principles of marking and yes, Entrepreneurial mind.
This class is taught by professor sweet is an amazing course. throughout the course, you learn about how the innovator’s mind works and how to come up with strong ideas. You learn different ways of looking at problems to see a new solution. It also helps you work on your public speaking skills as there are times you get the chance to present. Personally, when I took this class I fell in love with the entire department. I knew early on that this was the major for me and that has not changed since. Another key factor of the class is the Elevator Pitch Competition. though the comp is not exclusive to the class, you are required to entire it as a grade for the class. Professor Sweet guides you in your submission process and if you are fortunate enough to make it into the finals you continue to get that hands-on experience with the bonus of actual money. Once again it also allows you to work on your presentation skills. Another key factor of the importance of the simple yet crucial elevator pitch. the idea of simplifying your concept in a 2-minute window is hard and often struggled with. Its importance is still keen. the class is also quite easy and laidback. Overall the class is wonderful and I would completely recommend it to any pursuing a future in business.
I’m glad that you found the career for you, Tessa! Entrepreneurial mind is a great introduction to the world of entrepreneurship and it definitely is key to understanding what is takes to be a great entrepreneur!
I agree that professor Sweet is awesome and there is so much that he has taught me over this year. I think that he helps really engage the students into understanding what sales is actually like. His story of being in ministry his whole life and then becoming a professor is awesome and I am super thankful for him.
