I have had the same car since my sophomore year of high school, when i first obtained my drivers license. So after 7 years of having my 2004 Cadillac CTS, it was time to make an upgrade and get myself a new car. I have been searching for my new car that I was going to buy after graduation for a few months now. The new job that I am taking after graduation requires me to buy and drive a truck. Last week i bought a 2019 Chevy pickup truck and had to sell my car, i will explain the story behind all of this.
I went into a local car and truck dealership in Youngstown, Ohio and knew what I had my eyes on. I had been searching online and knew that there were a few places with this truck, but this particular dealership seemed to be the most reasonably priced and had some good deals going on at the time. When I walked in, the typical car salesman walked up to put and tried to put on his dog and pony show. Obviously, taking this class has helped me ask good questions and kind of play with the guy and hi sales techniques. I ended up getting a truck for $4,000 less than they were asking and felt that I had gotten a good deal and a more than fair price.
The next challenge was trading in my car, and trying to get some good value for a trade in. I ended up, after some negotiations, getting $5,000 for my 2004 car. I only paid 4,500 for it 7 years ago. Naturally, I was happy with this outcome and satisfied with my car buying experience.
That is pretty cool how you were able to use the skills from this class, and also probably from your previous sales experience, to negotiate a great deal for both of your car transactions. You knew what they were thinking and were able to benefit from that. Even if we do not go directly into sales, knowing about sales can be very beneficial.
