Outside sales is the concept of selling from outside the company that is selling. Typically, outsides sales will engage in selling to their customers face-to-face. Traditionally, outside sales would occur in a door-to-door or field sales tactic. All of this takes place out of the company. Most often, companies with an inside sales approach will have a less regimented process for sales. This allows for freedom and flexibility for the sales reps to allow them to develop and implement their own unique sales strategies with which to sell. How outside sales reps will reach their customers is traveling to prospective customers, attending conferences and events, and building relationships ahead of the sale.
