Dr. Barbara Fredrickson is the mind behind the Positivity Ratio. This is the ability to frame things in your mind as positive. This helps people stay afloat through seemingly tough setbacks, but there is a also a limit to how healthy seeing each thing as positive is.
Golden Ratio
She says that the golden ratio of positivity is 3:1. In other words, for every four hard things, three of them should be able to be seen in a positive light. Anything less, and it is harmful the extent to which you view things as negative. Any more, and you start to become more and more delusional, as some things simply suck.
The Benefit
Framing setbacks in your mind allows you to keep hard things are bay, while still trying to be positive and confident with people around you, asn the client is a perfect example. Being a person that can put an honest, positive spin on most things is attractive to prospects, and thur worth trying out.
