Sam Weber, a 2014 Grove City College graduate, is the CEO and Founder of ProfilePasser.
I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Sam’s story and the insight that she had to give about being a successful real-life entrepreneur and principal salesperson of a company.
Sam is such a driven individual, which is exactly why she is where she is today, and I’m grateful for the helpful tips that she gave us students about being an entrepreneur directly involved in the sales process of her company. Aside from not taking no for an answer, I think there are a lot of things that we can learn from Sam that she may not have verbally spoken to us.
The first thing that I indirectly learned from Sam is that she was passionate about the problem. As entrepreneurs and salespeople, it is our first nature identify the pain and ease that pain as soon as humanly possible. It may not even be a pain that we personally can relate to. The pain that Sam identified with the recruiting process for varsity soccer is also something that she is very passionate about, which is why she is so driven towards growing a business that solves this problem. Identifying a problem is one thing, trying to solve it is another; but really being passionate about the problem that you are trying to solve is what really matters.
The second thing that I indirectly learned from Sam is how to sell your story. From hearing Sam’s story, she is definitely a person that doesn’t take no for an answer and is very persistent in her endeavors. I noticed while she told her story, it fired her up because she is so passionate about it. That is how we all need to be when it comes to selling. Not being fired up in an overbearing way that scares our prospect away, but a passion behind our story that also acts as a form of selling.
Overall, Sam provided some great insight that will be helpful in the long run for all future entrepreneurs!
Tiff-
I literally loved her talk in class and at the extra lecture. What was funny was that I also got a little sad because I felt like I had no idea what to do with my life. She seems like she had such a path that she was giong to follow. One thing that was extremely encouraging was that even in the midst of some of her troubles she continued to persevere because she had faith to know that this was where she needed to be.
I was also struck by her passion for the problem that she’s solving. Her example makes me not want to settle for participating in an industry that I am simply just interested in, but to find something that I truly have a heart for. I want to find a problem that I have a heart for, and do everything in my power to find a solution and make it come to fruition. She changed my outlook on the purpose of entrepreneurship.
Sam’s story was so inspiring and exciting to hear. I love the fact that she started this because of the passion she has for soccer, not all because she wanted to money. She stuck with her ideas, and wasn’t afraid to say no.
