Earlier this semester I committed to be a full-time employee of a new start up in Philadelphia. This company is called SlightEdge and is an outsourced sales company. Outsourced sales is where bigger companies hire smaller companies to focus in on a target area, or demographic that company is looking to engage. SlightEdge started in 2015 and has won “Best New Place to Work in Philadelphia” for 5 years running. While talking to my manager Karim, he has informed me that sales after this pandemic for them could look very different. We all know the traditional type of sales and how you go into sales meetings with a pitch, and the hopes to answer questions your client has. Karim says recently they are video chatting through skype, their different clients and it makes it very different. Karim says not only do we need to rely on technology now more than ever, but it can completely affect the sale. Karim said he was closing a sale with a large apartment complex manager for our client, Amazon, when the video cut out. The clients’ WIFI had lost the signal and they ended up wasting the whole hour talking together. He said has most of our clientele are older it is tough for us to help explain how to use a certain function on their phones or computers. I think once the pandemic ceases, sales in the US will look different.
