I’ve never watched New Girl before, but I recently saw this clip and immediately thought about this class:

The guy trying to come up with a catchy name for his product in order to have a successful sales campaign is obviously relying too much on superficial aspects. He says that he needs to figure out how to sell sponges to men, but instead of seeking out and discovering what pain that his target customer is experiencing regarding sponges, he relies heavily on the name of his product to do the selling for him. Although he’s trying to get the creative juices flowing, he should instead direct his focus to his interactions with whoever he’s selling the sponges to and ask good questions.
