So I was sitting in HAL last Friday before class, doing statistics or some other homework, when I see a Mr. Nathan Devlin begin to approach me. Thank God, that means a distraction from stats. But this time, he came with a proposition in mind: sell Professor Sweet on having class outside.

He believed I was the perfect person to pitch this idea, he said while pitching me his idea. Pitching the pitch? A pitch for a pitch.*

Now, I prefer to exercise a healthy dose of skepticism when trying to decode what people are really saying, but this time, I just took him at his word. I’m not sure how I feel about being the go-to for emailing Professor Sweet but I’ll take it. One successful sale on Devlin’s part; now it’s my turn.

With ten minutes left before class, I set about crafting the perfect email. I begin by commenting on the nice weather we’re having, like the master of originality that I am. From there, my email quickly starts to look like some kind of Skyrim NPC dialogue**, where I give an adventurer (Professor) a quest (go outside), mentioning the skills needed to pull it off (being a really cool professor) and warning him of the potential consequences (students enjoying class).

I don’t know if the fantasy language was effective or not, but he did see the email and we did end up going outside and I did end up sunburnt. So, all in all, that makes not one but two successful sales! Very pro.

*pitch doesn’t seem like a real word anymore.

**Disclaimer: I have never played Skyrim
