What type of salesperson are you, are you the old fashion salesperson, or are you the type of sales person always trying to improve, and tend to your customer needs. Well here are a few tips that I found that could be helpful.
Leaving a voicemail
The first tip that I found was helpful was the use of voicemail. Leaving a voicemail is not the best way to get new client, but it is a great way to keep in touch with your current clients. Another great thing about using voicemail, is that it shows people that you are hard working. Calling between 6 am and 8 am, most people will still be asleep and they will like that you are driven.
Learn the customer
Out of all the tips that I have found, the most important one by far is learn the customer. You should make it a point to learn your customer and not be driven by the sale. When you are getting this information you should look for items that you both have in common. It’s this information you gain that will help you keep your customer, but more important this make it more likely they will refer others to you.
Opening the sales call
A thing that I have found to work best when opening calls is to connect current call to a previous call. By doing this you are giving the customer a sense of comfort and now they are more likely to listen to what you have to say.
Hand-written business cards
Such a simple thing, but it can make a huge difference. If you take a moment to write your cell number or even just some information that is not already on the card. It’s unlikely they will actually call your cell number, but it just gives them a sense of connection.
Great blog post. I found your point about leaving voice mails very interesting. Because voice mails show the time, the caller called, they can prove just how dedicated a caller can be.
This was great and interesting, a lot of things I would not have considered or thought of, the voicemail thing is huge, I think also not so much our generation of individuals, but my parents especially value voicemails and so I can see how this could be extremely beneficial to selling. Also, the hand written business cards, genius, similar to a waitress or waiter writing “thanks!” on the bottom of a receipt, selling themselves to encourage the customer to tip well. Personal touches that show effort can go a long way in all things, but especially in sales.
Same as what rachel said! I like the idea of the voicemail and the hand-written business cards. While technology is the rage right now, and the digital age is developing rapidly, people are also starting to crave the personal connection that is lost in a world of emails and text messages – there is definitely something to be said regarding the benefit of something hand-written.
