Today was the annual MAP “yard sale.” It is the ideal time for seniors to get rid of stuff they no longer need, and underclasswomen can snag a great deal on used furniture, clothing, and appliances.
My roommate and I did not participate in selling our items, but I stopped by my close friends’ room and found their room set to sell without a “sales rep.” I jumped in when potential customers started making the rounds. Seeing an opportunity to test my skills, I began selling the items for the room. I even was able to compile a list of interested buyers for a few of the bigger ticket items. By the end of the night, I had either sold most of the major items or found interested buyers to refer to the sellers.
It was kind of comical how quickly I put my selling hat on. My friends and I laughed about saleswoman Lisa. Selling really is everywhere and I am learning to not be intimidated by an opportunity to sell.
As I work on starting to pack up my off campus apartment, I got concerned how much furniture I have that I need to sell by July… until I remembered that I now have learned all these great sales concepts to help me!
What a great way to use your new sales skills! It sounds like you did an excellent job selling all your friend’s stuff!
