Sales can be described as the actions of the world. Everyone is trying to solve their pain and/or maybe solving someone else’s pain in the process. Humans all pursue their own pleasure and peace, which can be argued to be caused by the fall. One of the most common pains humans experience is the pain of loneliness. The creation of our holiday Valentines Day is a prime example of this. People, in the pursuit of solving the pain in their heart, will ask out someone who hopefully also shares this pain. People seek resolution to their loneliness by seeking a mutually beneficial action/event. This day is a reason for people to spend money on things and experiences to help fill their desire for love: Again, another argument could be made here that this is a result of our fall and the love we really want is the Love of Christ made abundantly evident in our lives. A man might try and sell himself to a woman by demonstrating how he would satisfy her her goals and vision for her live, and a woman might try to show how she could comfort and bring peace to a man’s live. While it is a good thing that people strive to sell themselves to fulfill each others needs in tandem with solving their own, the holiday is often abused and does not satisfy the pain people experience. People will make rushed attempts to satisfy their pain and either misjudge someone’s character, or go about it in a destructive way. People will shop for themed items, but when the pain persists, they throw their purchases away and forget their error until they repeat it next year. When we seek out a love to fill the pain we feel within our hearts, we need to be careful to not jump onto the nearest bandwagon, but we need to find solutions for our specific pain.

I really like what you said here about being cautious with what you do or how you sell. Especially not jumping onto the bandwagon and being another sheep being led by a shepherd. Its good to take your time on decisions in life especially when it comes to relationships and marriage. taking it slow cannot cause more harm than going to fast.
I have never thought of how the pain of Valentine’s day sells. This is a completely unique example of utilizing pain to further a company’s efforts. While I believe this technique is rather effective, it is also rather sad. I think it’s important as consumers to be mindful of the subliminal messaging we are subjected to. Companies are not afraid to prey and make use of negative emotions. It is crucial to be aware.
