I really enjoyed listening Dave this past week in class. He had a lot of great stories to share and not only that but great lessons to take away from them as well. One thing in particular that Dave said that really stuck with me was the story about the one head hunter who said that Dave would never make it into Medical sales and Dave promptly became determined to prove him wrong. Many people would shy away from something when told they are told they can’t. Especially when that someone is a professional in their field telling someone it can’t be done. It can be intimating and easy to give in to. However the reality is their will always be people in life with a desire (for whatever the reason may be) to bring you down. Educated, uneducated, professionals, armatures, experienced, or inexperienced- whoever it may be. Running into to people who believe you can’t can be a common occurrence. It is unfortunate fact of life however like just about anything we can choose how we react to this rejection. We can either give and feel sorry for ourselves or we can just ah I think your wrong and proceed to prove them wrong. I really enjoyed Dave’s story because I willing to believe that when he did get that offer and decided to pursue he approached it with a greater zeal then he had ever had before when trying to get a job. People who try tear us down can actually be fuel to help build ourselves up if taken in the right way. Sometimes being gutsy is all that it takes to turn things around as Dave says. Thank you very much Dave for coming out to class. It was an equally entertaining and insightful fifty minutes.

I also really enjoyed the talk that he gave during class and thought it was very beneficial. it is very important for a salesperson to never give up and be determined to prove people wrong. Sales is all about failing and how you can respond to it, and the successful salespeople turn their fails into positives. As Dave said, all you have to do is be gutsy for 5 seconds. If you are able to ignore the negative things that happen in your sales career or just life in general, you will become more successful because of it.
