Throughout this week, we have been doing a hot seat which is a sales discussion through Professor Sweet or the teacher’s assistants which is helping us experience a real world sales conversations in class. They are doing an awesome job of simulating real world situations that we would go through and seeing how we would handle it. This is an awesome teaching situation since we get to also think of how we would answer, while also being able to see other skilled and smart students give their own responses and answers in order to handle the situation correctly. This week of hot seats has been one of my favorite weeks when it comes to college classes since we are learning and also having a really fun time throughout the process.
The hot seat seems like it would be a very scary thing, but once you get to do it you feel a lot better about it and it has given me a ton of confidence with being able to go out into the real world and sell to other people. I also feel like this could be even more strenuous since you are doing it in front of your classmates, so when we get to go into the real world we just have to connect with one or a few people and not have an audience watching us. I think this is a key factor so that we could get out our butterflies and jitters when we are discussing business in the future as well as being able to be genuine and understanding of that person. I am personally a big fan of this exercise that we are doing since it is greatly improving our skills and getting us ready for sales jobs in the future.
That seat was hot! These presentations have been a blast to partake in and watch. Alex I thought you did a great job asking Professor Sweet questions, digger deeper into his pain, and staying on track with your thoughts. You can tell that you were very comfortable doing it, which is a great skill to possess and will help you a lot during your future career. I agree that it is nerve-racking doing it in front of classmates, but just think about if you were a salesman trying to close a multi-million dollar deal.. The stakes are higher and the pressure is on. But great job!
