We have talked in class about stories in sales. Narratives in general are a great way of communication, and have been throughout history. In biblical times, Jesus helped answer questions and solve problems through stories, i.e. parables. In sales, we can do the same. As we learned in class, third party or example stories can help to remove tensions, or deliver news or information in a nonthreatening, removed way. When we tell stories, we are trying to communicate value to a current client, in a separate client’s context, but would apply to them. When we hear a story, we envision ourselves as the characters. this is why a success story in a selling context is a great move. Better yet, your narrative can be changed by your current prospect, to fit their context. The “Fog-Lifting” aspect of a story can go both ways, a client can fill in the gaps of your understanding, and you can show the value you provide to them.

Great Post! I love that you pointed out how the greatest and influential teacher and how he used stories to teach and impact so many people. You did well at emphasizing how important stories are such sales.
You are so right about this!! Across all cultures, stories are a consistent method of communication for people, and it’s so neat to see where people use them to communicate in a modern or corporate context.
