When I was about 13, I had a passion to do landscaping as a job because I had watched my cousins do it before me. So, I went to the biggest farm in my area that I could find, and I knocked on their door to ask if I could weed wack for them around their property. They agreed to give me a chance to show them I was capable of the job I offered to do for them. Without pay I weed wacked their entire property and to their satisfaction they agreed to pay me $15 an hour to once a week come and help take care of their lawn. That started my love for providing landscape services so much that throughout my HS and college careers my source of income was my landscape services.

Throughout this process of figuring out how to sell my services I learned a ton about how to sell myself as a person to sell my skills, I learned how to talk to people who I had never met before and how to efficiently communicate. Selling myself as a person was probably the easiest thing to do. I learned over time to create a relationship outside of business with my customers even the ones that I would only work for once. That helped me gain trust and confidence that I would be able to perform the services I was advertising for. I also have come to learn through this experience and throughout life that being able to communicate efficiently with anyone but especially in business is key to success. Often times I would get high praise from customers for my response time and my clarity in texts, emails, or phone calls. This helped me get more customers as well from word-of-mouth advertisement which I slowly started to figure out. Overall this experience that I have had taught me so much about how to sell how to promote and how to communicate which will help me sell in the future.
