Growing up I was always told, “never take no for an answer.” It seemed like wonderful, plucky, tenacious advise… and it was. It’s never easy moving on past defeat. However, if you can learn to grow from your negative experiences, you will be stronger as a result.
This reminds me of the real you vs. the role you. I think it is very easy to get caught up in the notion that how well you preform at work determines your value of as a person. It is easier said than done. Accepting failure or rejection is a struggle for me, yet I know it is inevitable. Having a healthy relationship with your work life and personal life is crucial not only to your professional success, but to your happiness as well.
