This weekend I was in the car with a couple of my friends, driving to our sorority retreat. During the drive, I asked one of the girls about her ICO trip she took over spring break and she said something that stuck out to me. She mentioned that one of the biggest things she learned was that Jesus tended to answer questions with questions. Immediately, my mind went to how we discussed this in class, and it opened my eyes to the way Jesus used specific tactics to deepen his relationships with the people he was ministering to.

Throughout the Bible, we see countless examples of Jesus flipping around a conversation by asking a question back to the person he was having a conversation with. By doing this, he left room for the person to think deeper about the topic they were discussing and it set up the conversation for Jesus to later provide the answer to their questions. In addition, this displayed to the other person that Jesus was invested in the conversation and wanted to know more about their current life and beliefs.

Throughout the Bible, we are commanded to follow in the ways of Jesus, and I believe that applies to this concept as well. If we apply asking more questions to our conversations with others, whether they are a close friend or a stranger, relationships with be strengthened and more people will feel as though they are cared for. Having the foundation of a relationship opens the person you are talking to, whether it would be to a conversation about religion or a sales call.   I think it is so interesting to see how not only do the sales concepts discussed in this class apply to our day-to-day life, but are also seen utilized in the Bible.
