Generic sales cover things such as sales calls, face to face conversation, and things like DTD sales. But how often do people talk about EWOM (Electronic Word of Mouth), and how powerful it is to a salesperson? Electronic word of mouth has extreme relevance, as it comes from the traditional and powerful tactic, word of mouth. Given the large population actively browsing social media and the internet, effectively being able to use EWOM could potentially benefit a sales person in ways they would not have expected. For example, a local car detailer. They might try things like going door to door, telling their friends and family about their upcoming business, but these old ways aren’t as effective anymore. This is where EWOM has high value, as it lets this detailer to reach a larger audience while still staying local. A great example of this is the app called NextDoor. NextDoor is a friendly neighborhood app that lets local neighbors and friends connect with each other. If this proposed detailer were to advertise their business on here, then they would not only reach a larger audience, but still be able to stay local for easier transportation. Now that is just a small example of how EWOM and sales go hand to hand, but the opportunities that EWOM holds are much more than just that. Any sales person that knows how to effectively use and execute the power of EWOM will be able to more efficiently find clientele that are interested in their specific line of work. Harnessing this power is the future of sales, and I believe that most if not all sales will eventually tune their ways to being online rather than in person. While yes sales is still actively rising to this current day, using EWOM side and side with sales will skyrocket the proficiency it holds.
