Recently for girls, it seems that doing your nails has become very popular. In general, having pretty nails has almost always been popular for girls. A lot of girls like to have pretty nails some girls like doing it themselves while others don’t therefore, they go to a salon. The problem with salons is that they can become pricey very fast, especially when you start to get different colors and designs it can easily become over 80 dollars without fancy colors and difficult designs nails usually around 60 dollars. Therefore, girls have started going to their friends who now do their nails for a lot cheaper or do their nails themselves. At-home nails can be a lot more affordable than at salons and most often you can get more complex nails and better nails. I have even started doing my own because it is much cheaper than going out and getting them done. My friend Lauren started doing her nails a year ago and slowly started doing other people’s nails. For a while, she did them for free. While her designs got better she started charging a little and she now easily could charge 100 for nails, but her being her she would never do that. This has become her little hobby and potential side business with an instagram and TikTok account. In years to come her small business could attract even more traction. A problem with this in the future could be that she needs to get licensed, but I am sure she could. Will nail studios at home eventually run nail studios out of business? This can be very good for some people and very bad for others. One thing I love about this epidemic is the creativity starting of small businesses and having a fun hobby for girls to get into.

This is something I can relate to myself, since I like to do my own nails as well. I have stopped going to nail salons for my fingernails specifically because they ruin my nail beds and are expensive. I have seen this trend as well and it’s possibly they are loosing a lot of business, but I would still go for a pedicure!
This is interesting. I think that the quality and convenience for a lot of people at nail salons is what gets them to continue to go back however doing them at home can be a good idea but I often see the problem of quality, experience and time. What can salons do to keep people enticed to continue going to the salon.
