There is a scene in the movie fight club where the main character speaks about how people and humans are just consumers and that we buy things that we don’t need just because we are told we need them and should buy them. I think this relates to sales because now adays most salespeople just focus on getting as many sales as possible and not actually fulfilling a need for someone or discovering someone’s pain. Consumers buy things from sly salespeople when they didn’t even want or need it in the first place, but because the salesperson told them they needed it they bought it.

This is an interesting post. You have to think that if those sales people are as around anymore and their effectiveness. Because i would argue these days they don’t have much success anymore thanks to the internet and the buyers power now in being able to shop around so easily unlike in the past. I think it is a lot more on the buyer these days if they purchase or not than it ever has been.
I agree, wholeheartedly. Salespeople should focus more on the needs that are there, instead of creating a need just to get more sales.
Creative way to tie a movie scene to sales principles. Made me think differently about the topic. Great post!
