When I was in my junior year of high school, I had not yet thought about what college I would attend. One thing I did know was that I wanted to play some sort of athletics wherever I went. I could have played football, basketball, or volleyball in college, and I had different schools reaching out but no one was heavily recruiting me. That was until coach Lamie contacted me by calling my coach and getting my phone number through him. Coach heavily recruited me through the rest of my junior year and senior year with frequent calls and text messages. I didn’t know at the time, but I was being prospected, “prospecting is a set of activities for identifying potential users for your product or service”(notes). Coach was trying to get to the root of my issue focusing on my desire to play college sports and was trying to sell Grove city college basketball to me. He was identifying me as a possible user of his product, which was me playing on his team.
