There is a scene in the movie fight club where the main character speaks about how people and humans are just consumers and that we buy things that we don’t need just because we are told we need them and should buy them. I think this relates to sales because now adays most salespeople just focus on getting as many sales as possible and not actually fulfilling a need for someone or discovering someone’s pain. Consumers buy things from sly salespeople when they didn’t even want or need it in the first place, but because the salesperson told them they needed it they bought it.
