What do you think of when you hear the word salesman? Probably not what people thought of back in the 50’s. We see the movies of the salesmen back in the day going door to door and selling household products to housewives. That still happens today, but sales have taken a big switch in pace. The invention of the internet has forever changed the way that we do sales. The advantages of having the internet is that we can now do a majority of our sales online if we want to.  Selling online has become a way of life for us now. We don’t even have to leave the house to have fresh food delivered straight to your house. We have become accustomed to having fast service and shipping. Most of sales in today’s world are not done face to face as they were once in the old days. Creating online e-commerce sites and even online stock markets. Is this a good thing? It is neither a good thing or a bad thing. We have grown away from interpersonal skills in sales, but have excelled in creating new sales techniques to adapt to the ever changing marketplace.

  1. I agree that sales has evolved away from the door to door salesman. I think that this evolution is better for the sellers and buyers. I do think that buyers want to have a level of trust with their seller. I think that face to face selling will not completely disappear.
